Ringwood Wildlife Pond
This is a list of animals found in the pond by Year 8 pupils during July 2006. We simply identified animals and didn't try to count numbers as this takes a long time and pupils did this at Blashford. We will try and do another survey in the autumn for comparison. The wildlife pond has been allowed to stock itself following the repair to its liner a couple of years ago.
All
species are part of the animal KINGDOM. The next level of classification is
called the PHYLUM and this is given for all species. Most species here are also
classified into the next group - their CLASS, and some are further classified
into their ORDER. The FAMILY is given for one of two species. This is as far as
we got! Animals marked with a * are left for you to classify further. Remember
... KPCOFGC ... so it's GENUS and SPECIES next.
