Tulipwatch

Tulipwatch is a nationwide trial to discover how the topography and climate of the UK affects our growing and gardening conditions.

We are taking part in that trial.

Tulipwatch
What is Tulipwatch?

Gardeners' World  teamed up with BBC Local Radio to offer viewers the opportunity to take part in a nationwide survey to help track spring's impact on gardens across the UK. Several students in Ringwood's Eco group are already interested in phenology, so we thought this was a good project to get involved in. We also like the opportunity to improve the school grounds in spring.

Viewers of the Gardeners' World were invited to get their green fingers on free tulip bulbs from local radio stations across the country to plant in their gardens - and then monitor their progress. We were able to get some of the trial tulip bulbs, SPRING GREEN, as shown above. As gardeners across the country feedback as the tulips bloom, the Gardeners' World team will be able to provide a horticultural snapshot of the combined effects of climate and geography on the flowering of tulips.

The team. Why did James cut off his tie? And when did Nick get rid of his?

Ha. Only joking!

Results from our Tulipwatch planting will appear here in due course.
